Wicked’s Family

Wicked isn’t just about the Broadway show that has been performing throughout the country for three years - it is also about the original people who made up that cast. One such inspiration was Stephen Schwartz, the Broadway and Hollywood composer who created the soundtrack for “Wicked.” Though Schwartz has earned praise for years, Wicked remains one of his favorites. He will be in Stockbridge for a performance October 24th at 7pm. . His tunes have earned his numerous awards, including Grammys, Tonys and Oscars. His work has included pieces for “Godspell,” “Pippin,” and the Disney films “Pocahontas” and “Hunchback of Notre Dame.” “Stephen Schwartz and Friends” is part of the Stockbridge Season of Entertainment/ Performances, and as Matt Cahoon, the Arts Facility Director of the Stockbridge Theatre said, Schwartz is a favorite of everyone. “This is absolutely one  of the biggest and most exciting events in the short history of the Stockbridge. The opportunity to bring an artist the caliber of Stephen Schartz to Derry is unbelievable and I am confident that this is a concert that people will remember for years to come.”

Though “Wicked” opened in 2003 and is still running in the area, there is much more up Schwartz’ sleeve, which friends will likely enjoy during his concert in Stockbridge.
