Maguire Promoting Wicked

Gregory Maguire, author of the novel “Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of hte West, Son of a Witch and A Lion Among Men,” the first which was turned into the hit Broadway musical of the same name, will present his works at a reading at the annual author presentation of the Pima Country Public Library’s Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender (GLBT) Services Committee, according to the Examiner. The event is free and open to the public, and will take place June 17 at the Loft Cinema in Tuscan, Arizona. The author, who lives with his partner and adopted a son just a few years ago, is also the author of other best selling fantasies like Confessions of an Ugly Septsister, a retelling of Cinderella that was made into an ABC flick, Lost and Mirror, Mirror. He has also written several children’s novels. 

Wicked on Broadway is based on Maguire’s novel with a book by Winnie Holzman, who received a Tony nomination and a Drama Desk Award for her work on “Wicked.” Other aspects of her career have included the television show “My So Called Life,” and theatre “Birds of Paradise,” with feature flicks like “‘Til There Was You.”
