A local Jacksonville resident is rejoicing in his ensemble role when his touring play, the much talked about “Wicked” appears this week. Torres changes costumes an immeasurable ammount during the over two hour show - in just the opening number Torress is wearing two costumes and must quickly drop his wig at the end of the song to put on something else. Graduating from the Douglas Anderson School of the Arts in 1997 Torress (previously known as Daniel Cochran) is 30 and has been in and out of successful Broadway productions for years. In 2005 he starred in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “The Woman in White,” and later he did “The Pirate Queen,” neither of which lasted long. Now, he’s touring with Wicked. “It was a no-brainer for me,” he said to Jacksonville.com. “There aren’t many shows, and this is one of the biggest hits to come out of Broadway in a decade. It’s a job I can have for a while. The thing about “Wicked” is that it appeals to just about everyone. Everyone’s familiar with ‘The Wizard of Oz.’ This is just another look at it, a completely different point of view.” See Torres when he comes to Jacksonville with Wicked tickets today!
