Wicked the biggest Broadway musical currently on stage has carried its success into the New Year, despite increasingly alarming reports in regards to the economy. The musical has been one of the biggest sellers on the stage since it first opened in 2003. In New York alone the sales for the musical have continued to reached impressive proportions:

  • In the week ending January 4, the musical grossed $1,769,489 with a paid attendance of 14,472 through eight performances. The Gershwin Theater where the musical is currently housed was filled to 100% capacity at every single show throughout the week. The top ticket soled for $300.
  • In the week ending January 11, the musical grossed $1,365,879 with a paid attendance of 14,139, 98% capacity was reached during the week. The top ticket for the week sold for $300.

Wicked is still going strong, and the tickets continue to be the number one seller on Broadway. Not only this but the musical has gained success on a worldwide scale, making top sales in London, Tokyo, Stuttgart (Germany), and Melbourne (Australia).
