The Wicked national tour is currently residing in Louisville, Kentucky, but in just over three months time it will be arriving in Jacksonville, Florida. This Friday, January 16, 2009, Wicked tickets will be going on sale at the Jacksonville box office at 10.30 in the morning, according to Roger Bull of the Florida Times-Union. The national tour of Wicked has been doing remarkably well during this economic crisis, continuing to sell-out shows left and right as it makes its way from one state to another.
Wicked is the story of the young woman, Elphaba, who eventually grows up to become The Wicked Witch of the West. It also follows the school-girl years of Galinda who eventually changes her name to Glinda and becomes the Good Witch. The appeal of the story comes in part from the intensity that it shows how people who are a little different are often villanized to make way for the ambitions of others. It is also a tale of bravery and courage as Elphaba resists all influences to stand for what she believes. And, of course, there are also the amusing and light-hearted notes to the musical, that make it all the more worth watching. All told, this is a musical that you will not want to miss, so get your Wicked tickets from StubHub while you still can.
