MAD TV’s Nicole Parker to join Wicked

MADtv’s Nicole Parker will be joining the cast of Wicked in New York, beginning performances on January 16. The actress will be assuming the role of Elphaba, taking the place of Marcie Dodd. The actress is most well known for her six seasons on “MADtv,” and she made her Broadway debut in Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me. The actresses other theater credits include Laurencia in Fuente Ovejuna for Waterwell Productions, the part of Pamina in The Magic Flute, and Juliet in the Second City’s Romeo and Juliet Musical.

Wicked has won 20 major awards including a Grammy and three Tonys. It is the untold story of the witches of Oz, Glinda (The Good Witch) and Elphaba (The Wicked Witch of the West.) The show has been the biggest seller for most of its time on Broadway and does not seem to have lost any sales during the recession.
