From all of the talk around Broadway and Tinseltown, it doesn’t appear that the film adaptation of Wicked will be in theaters anytime soon. That doesn’t seem to be sitting to well with Kristin Chenoweth, who originated the role of Glinda. The 40-year-old actress told Marc Malkin, “I did create it. I originated it. It would be hard for me not to want to do it…But they need to hurry up before I’m 45!”
Chenoweth is currently nominated for an Emmy for playing Olive Snook in Pushing Daisies. The role of Glinda seemed to fit her upbeat personality. Wicked is set in Oz before The Wizard of Oz. Glinda and the Wicked Witch of the West are not yet known as good and wicked, just Glinda and Elphaba. The duo strike up an unlikely friendship at magic school, where Glinda is beautiful and popular and Elphaba is misunderstood but talented. As Elphaba discovers corruption in Oz, she and Glinda are put at odds with one another as Glinda has big ambitions for her future in Oz. The Tony Award-winning musical has taken the country and world by storm, creating quite a stir.
