As the Chicago production of Wicked heads into its final months of production, there are cast changes on the way. Rondi Reed, who plays Madame Morrible, will be leaving the production just prior to Thanksgiving. Along with her memorable role as Madame Morrible, the Tony Award-winning Reed has also been a key cast member of August: Osage County. The last time she left the same role in Wicked was to join the New York cat of August: Osage County. The same role beckons her back but this time to the opening in London.
Like when Reed left for New York, Barbara Robertson will replace her when she ventures to London. Robertson is also set to play the starring role in the production of Mame, but is expected to be able to keep both commitments. Reed is scheduled to return to Wicked in January just before the musical packs up its broomstick and flies off.
Colorful characters like Madame Morrible have captivated audiences since the musical opened. Wicked tells the story of the Wicked Witch of the West before Dorothy dropped in Oz. In Wicked, she is simply called Elphaba and is discriminated against because of her green skin. See why this show is so popular by getting Wicked tickets from StubHub.com.
