Young Actors Learn from Wicked

The Townsend Opera Players have decided that Wicked would be the perfect addition to their Summer Teen Workshop.  The workshop helps participants learn about the different aspects of stage performance like auditioning, singing and lighting.  The program is run by other teens, and the participants seem to respond well to peer guidance.  Along with other top shows like Sweeney Todd, the workshop has decided to include the music of Wicked to teach the students about the incredible songs of Broadway.

Wicked is the perfect show to teach young people about theater.  It is quickly becoming the ultimate show for any performer to be in on Broadway or anywhere else.  It may have gotten the incredible fame because it doesn’t take the easy way out of having good versus evil and instead discovers the grey area in between.  You may know Elphaba as the Wicked Witch of the West from the Wizard of Oz, but Wicked brings you back to before she was marked with such a label.  She is incredibly gifted and a top student at magic school.  She finds out those in authority are doing bad thing but is shown as evil when she tries to stop them.  See how it all started by getting Wicked tickets from StubHub.com.
