Wicked Success Down Under

Wicked is proving that no matter where in the world this Tony Award-winning musical decides to land, it has a massive following of fans.  The show recently opened its doors in Melbourne, Australia and has already found incredible success.  One day after the musical opened, it sold $1.5 million Australian in ticket sales, which easily broke the box office records there.  There has already been more than $13 million in presales for tickets.  John Frost, who co-produced the show, told Broadway World, “The fantastic critical reaction and overwhelming audience excitement for Wicked in Melbourne has exceeded our wildest expectations.  We always felt there was a huge audience for Wicked here in Oz, and we’re thrilled that Melbourne has embraced this spectacular musical as its own.”
