The popular production of Wicked has found its way to Kansas, where the story all began. This though is a different take on the original story of the Wizard of Oz, concentrating on the two witches, Glinda the Good Witch and Elphaba the Wicked Witch of the West. The musical is beginning a 19 day run in Kansas City, much to the delight of all Wicked fans in the area. The show has attracted people of all ages, especially Oz fans who are seeking to get another peek into the land of the Emerald City. This time though instead of focusing on Dorothy and her little dog Toto from Kansas, the story centers around the two witches, whose own choices and convictions will lead them on completely different paths down the Yellow Brick Road.
Wicked is somewhat of a prequel to the Wizard of Oz and it is based on Gregory Maguire’s 1995 novel. The show has been praised by fans and critics alike who have billed the show as somewhat of a mythical and whimsical story that appeals to people of all ages. In Kansas City the musical is expected to do extremely well…especially with the ties to Kansas found in the original book by L. Frank Baum, The Wizard of Oz. Be sure not to delay, get your own pair of Wicked tickets as soon as possible!
