Wicked Will Have a Longer Run in the City By the Bay

Wicked has become an insanely popular play with people around the world.  Next year it is scheduled to close on Broadway, but many fans will have further opportunities to see this fantastic show at different locations throughout the nation.  It is currently playing at theaters in Chicago and Los Angeles as well as the national tour.  Beginning in January 2009, the musical will have an extended run in San Francisco at the Orpheum Theatre.  Wicked has been a top performer in ticket sales and has broken box office records around the world.

According to press notes, “the show is based on the novel “Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West” by Gregory Maguire, which in turn is based on the Oz stories by L. Frank Baum.  It tells the story of two witches of Oz: Flinda and Elphaba.  Hoping to take up sorcery, they meet at a school called Chiz.  Glinda is popular and Elphaba isn’t happy about it and to make matters worse, they are roommates.  But they sort it all out as their life paths keep crossing.  They eventually go to Emerald City and meet the Wizard.”  Get your Wicked tickets from Stubhub.com.
