There will a whole new group of performers making up the Wicked cast in London. Some of the big names that will be taking the stage in the musical about the two witches from The Wizard of Oz include: Harriet Thorpe, Alexia Khadime, Desmond Barrit and Jeremy Legat. Thorpe will fill the shoes will become the new Madame Morrible, Khadime as Elphaba, Barrit as the Wizard and Legat will take on the role of Boq. Other modifications include: ensemble member Caroline Keiff will take over the role of Nessarose and Ashleigh Gray will become the standby for the green faced Elphaba.
According to press notes posted on Playbill.com, Wicked “explores the early life of the witches of Oz: Glinda and Elphaba. The two main characters meet at Shiz, a school where both hope to take up sorcery. Glinda is madly popular and Elphaba is, well, green. By a misunderstanding, they wind up roommates and, after an initial period of mutual loathing, begin to learn something about each other. Their life paths continue to intersect through a shared love, entry into the Emerald City and interaction with the Wizard himself.
