Alexia Khadime Steps Into the Shoes of Elphaba

The London production of Wicked welcomes a new member to the cast, with the inclusion of Alexia Khadime.  Currently she plays Nala in Disney’s “The Lion King,” although before long she will be applying the layers of green makeup that goes hand in hand with the role of the Wicked Witch of the West.  Khadime will succeed Kerry Ellis in the role of the misunderstood witch starting on June 9 and is scheduled to stay with the production through November 29.

In addition to the “Lion King,” Kahdime has also been featured in the productions of “Whistle Down the Wind,” “Leader of the Pack” and “Cinderella: The Musical.”  According to press notes posted on Playbill.com, Wicked “explores the early life of the witches of Oz: Glinda and Elphaba.  The two main characters meet at Chiz, a school where both hope to take up sorcery.  Glinda is madly popular and Elphaba is, well, green.  Their life paths continue to intersect through a shared love, entry into the Emerald City and interaction with the Wizard himself.  Eventually, their choices and convictions take them on widely different paths.”  Get your pair of Wicked tickets from Stubhub.com.
