How Much Will You Pay For a Wicked Hat?

The Wicked Witch’s hat has fetched quite a lump of change at a Las Vegas Auction, when the bidding ended with a high price of $197,400.  It was quite a day for the winner, who perhaps has plans of using the hat to stir up some wickedly wonderful potions in a large black cauldron.  The auction also included Indiana Jones’ bullwhip which sold for $70,150 and the famous bowler that could slice a statue in half that was featured in the Bond movie, “Goldfinger,” the revolver that Jack Ruby used to shoot Lee Harvey Oswald and a rocking chair that was once used by John F. Kennedy.  Of course who wouldn’t want the fantastic hat that the Wicked Witch of the West once wore.

Wicked Must Go On!

Even in the midst of a stormy blizzard, the show must go on!  The cast and crew of the production of Wicked in Cleveland proved that weather is no obstacle to them.  Of course Wicked is such a fantastic production that it is reaching new highs in ticket sales across the country.  The total box office figure for “Wicked’s” second visit to Cleveland was $7,361,216. Though most recently a fierce blizzard prevented several ticket holders from attending the play at the Playhouse Square over the most recent weekend.  3,200 were not able to make it to the final performances of Wicked, which was obviously most displeasing to the eager patrons.

Many people had been waiting months to see the production and had paid the big bucks only to not be able to attend because of the snow.  They were all able to get refunds, but of course the main complaint of patrons was that the theatre actually decided to remain open.  Go figure.  In that case, I guess I would be complaining to the weather Gods and not the theater owners, but never mind.  Wicked, although leaving Cleveland will be showing at many other theaters around the country for years to come!  Don’t miss out on the next production and don’t get caught in the snow!  Get your Wicked tickets from Stubhub.com.

Former Wicked Star Will Shine on Stage

Broadway’s Idina Menzel, who won a Tony Award for her portrayal of Elphaba in “Wicked” and her role in the hit production, “Rent” is set to celebrate the release of her brand new album at the Barrington Stage on Thursday, April 3.  This will be the star’s concert debut and for her fans everywhere this is great news.  Menzel was wonderful in both Wicked and Rent and now fans will get to enjoy her solo talents as she exhibits them onstage.  Her new album is called “I Stand” and is is a collection of entirely new songs written by the actress, singer and songwriter.

Peeking Behind the Emerald Curtain

Wicked Alums Reunite

There is nothing like a reunion, unless it’s of course your high school reunion, which in most cases probably isn’t the most thrilling night of your life.  However when you see two theater stars take to the stage in a collaborate effort, you might have a different perspective.  Megan Hilty and Shoshana Bean, both from the production of “Wicked” will team up for a one night only event in Los Angeles that is scheduled to take place on March 31.  The show is called “The Meg an’ Sho Show” and it will take place at Mark’s Restaurant in West Hollywood.  Both performers are extremely talented, so their upcoming performance should be phenomenal.

Don’t Miss Wicked!

Wicked in Orlando!

The Wonderfully Wicked World of Oz

In Port Huron, Michigan a company called Enter Stage Right and Girl Scout Michigan Waterways Council are joining the stories of The Wizard of Oz and the more recent follow up tale called “Wicked.”  It is slated as a comedy and a drama that intertwines the dreams of Dorothy and the Elphaba, who is of course the Wicked Witch of the West.  As stated in thetimesherald.com, you can “meet Elphaba before she was branded with that awful, untrue title, and Dorothy, a young girl on her first adventure.  See how the Scarecrow and Tin Man were transformed and discover how Lion became Cowardly.  Glinda learns that beauty is more than great hair and new shoes while evil Wizard is defeated when true friendship saves the day.”
