The Wizard of Odd

Last week the Desert Star Playhouse debuted its newest parody, called “The Wizard of Odd: A Wicked Comedy,” last Thursday and it certainly provoked much laughter among the joyous audience members.  The title of the show obviously alludes to the fact that the production follows its own winding yellow brick path, offering a story that’s a mashup of the classic film, “The Wizard of Oz” and “Wicked,” the popular Broadway musical.  “The Wizard of Odd” was written by Ben E. Millet, author of “Spamlet” and “My Valley Fair Lady.”

A brief synopsis of the Wizard of Odd, according to an article in the Salt Lake Tribune is “A tornado carries Dorothy from her home in Kamas to the Land of Odd where she is caught up in a power struggle between two witches.  Along the way, she finds a magical pair of ruby sneakers and friends to accompany her on her journey and discovers things never turn out quite as you might expect.”  Don’t miss your chance to see the real production of Wicked, with your own pair of Wicked tickets.
