Luckily for theater patrons who missed performances of “Wicked,” “An American Girl Story” and “We Gotta Bingo” over the weekend due to the massive storm that ravaged the Midwest, will get their money back. For those who were unable to make it to the show at Playhouse Square a refund will be offered so that fans can catch up with their musicals at another date, hopefully when there is not a storm on the horizon. While the storm was a very good reason to miss the performance, theater-goers should make sure that they don’t miss out on the fabulous production of Wicked, which will leave you just jumping out of your seat with joy. You don’t even need a pair of ruby slippers just to get there.
The play is based on the novel, “Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West” by Gregory Maguire. It is described as a re-imagining of L. Frank Baum’s classic story “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.” Wicked tells the story of the Elphaba, the future Wicked witch of the West and her relationship with Glinda, the Good Witch of the North. Their friendship struggles through their opposing personalities and viewpoints, rivalry over the same love-interest, their reactions to the Wizard’s corrupt government and ultimately Elphaba’s public fall from grace.
