‘Wicked’ Wizard hosts ‘Life is a Cabaret’ Fred Ebb Tribute

David Garrison, who is most recently known for his role as The Wizard in the smash hit Broadway production of Wicked, will host the 92nd Street Y’s continued legendary American Songbook series which will pay tribute Feb.  to a famed composer of 50 years in the ongoing show “Lyrics and Lyricists, with life as a Cabaret: A Tribute to Fred Ebb.”

The production will honor Ebb through a series of performances of his most accomplished work, which has “eptimoized the wit and sophistication of Broadway,” according to an article published Wednesday, Feb. 6, at the official Broadway World Web site. Famed musical stars Brent Barrett (Chicago, Annie Get Your Gun) Diana Canova (Company) and Tony Award-winning actress Tyne Daly (Gypsy, The Seagull) will all play a key part in the show, performing songs from some of his most famous scores on which he collaborated with well-known John Kander. His most successful works include Cabaret, Happy Times, Zorba, Chicago, Woman of the Year, The Rink, Kiss of the Spider Woman and Curtains, according to the Broadway World report.
