The windy city has declared its eternal allegiance to Glinda and Elphaba - the dynamic witch duo that has audiences raving over the smash hit musical Wicked, which has been running performances since June 2005 at the Ford Center for Performing Arts, Oriental Theater.
OK, maybe not eternal - but they love it a lot. The Chicago cast recently announced an additional two months worth of performances, ranging from April through July, the tickets for which will go on sale Friday, Feb. 8 at 10:30 a.m., according to an article published Monday, Feb. 4 on the official Broadway World Web site. The company, which has already been honored as the top-grossing and longest-running Broadway show in Chicago theater history, boasts a cast of Barbara Robertson as Madame Morrible and the young 20-year-old up and coming actress Erin Mackey as Glinda the Good Witch, according to an article published Jan. 25 on the Chicago Tribune Web site.
Wicked is the story of two young witches, who are away at sorcery school for the first time in their lives. One, with emerald green skin, is sassy and outgoing while the other is popular, beautiful and ambitious. Regardless of their differences, Glinda and Elphaba cross paths at sorcery school when they become unlikely roommates and friends. All this takes place in the land of Oz, long before Dorothy and Toto decided to drop in.
