‘Wicked’ star Idina Menzel’s third solo album ‘I Stand’ now available for pre-order at Amazon.com

Broadway star Idina Menzel, most recently recognized for her performances in the smash hit musicals Wicked and Rent, has returned with yet another project in the public spotlight.

Besides starring in the major motion picture “Enchanted,” and collaborating on several songs for the soundtrack of big-time film “Beowulf” (both of which are currently in theaters) her third solo album, “I Stand,” which contains the singer’s first single “Brave,” is now available for pre-order at Amazon.com – “Brave” was released on iTunes several weeks ago and is making huge waves in the music world, according to BroadwayWorld.com.

The Tony Award winner said she got her start in the music business when she was 15, shortly after her parents were divorced and she took on a part time job as a wedding singer to help make ends meet. It wasn’t long until she started exploring every option when it came to singing, she said in a recent interview with MoviesOnline.com.

“Then I kind of got into singing Motown and jazz and the pop music, because you have to learn all different kinds of music, and that made me want to start writing my own music,” Menzel said. “So then I kind of had both these ideas in my head and I’ve been vacillating between the two for so long and then Rent happened and that was a fluke. So I said okay, you can go in this direction, and the theatre’s always been so wonderful to me, but now I feel like I’ve grown to the place where I’m going to stop feeling like I have to pick one or the other and just try to be one of the modern-day disciples of Bette Midler or Barbra Streisand, something like that. I mean those are my idols.”

If you still haven’t heard Menzel’s work, it’s pretty hard to miss right now – check out her new single “Brave,” go see “Enchanted” or “Beowulf” if you haven’t yet and be sure to snag Wicked tickets for a performance that theater-goers and critics are calling one of the freshest productions on Broadway at the moment.
