Celebrating the end of the Broadway stage crew strike, the Marriott Marquis Theatre hosted the “Broadway’s Back” show Dec. 1 - a production which featured a myriad of musical stars, including the former Wicked stars Stephanie J. Block and Ashford were also joined by Bernadette Peters who performeda rendition of “There’s No Business Like Show Business,” as well as Bob Saget, Michael Longoria, Dierdre Goodwin and Paul McGill, according to an article published Sunday, Dec. 9 at BroadwayWorld.com.
The show went on to include special guest Angela Lansbury, who started in on the Mame song “I Need a Little Christmas,” which prompted the entire cast to join in. The evening, hosted by The Drowsey Chaperone starBob Martin, got off to a start when the lights came up on the actor as he sat in the musical’s famous chair and he announced “Broadway’s dark night is finally over.” He then walked over to an on-stage refrigerator and when he couldn’t get the door open, Martin requested a little help and several stage crew members emerged, unlocked the door and received hugs from Martin, as well as many other cast members as they paraded out from inside the refrigerator, according to the article.
