‘Wicked’ star Shoshana Bean journeys to LA to record debut album

Yet another rising star from the cast of the Broadway smash hit musical Wicked is one her way to LA to record a debut album. Shoshana Bean, who played the role of Elphaba in the Broadway production in 2005 replacing Idina Menzel and again in the national tour alongside Megan Hilty, is working away steadily on her music writing, but has also made time to do several cabaret shows and will star in the one-night only upcoming show of “It’s a Bird…It’s a Plane…It’s Superman,” which is a Broadway reprise of the original version, according to an article published Sunday, Dec. 9 at BroadwayWorld.com.

Bean made her Broadway debut in 2000 in another one of Stephen Schwartz’s critically acclaimed musicals, Godspell. Schwartz, the famous composer and lyricist responsible for producing Wicked and many other hit Broadway musicals, has been making waves in the industry lately, as well, with his new album release: “Captain Louie The Musical.” The new production in which Bean will star will run Dec. 13 and 14 at LA’s Upright Cabaret at the Palm Springs Resort and will also feature well-known actors Jake Simpson and Chad Kimball and actress Jennifer Leigh Warren.
