The second annual Halloween-inspired “Wicked Day” was held Oct. 28 at London’s biggest shopping venue - Cardinal Place, right in the heart of Victoria - and turned out droves of fans, dressed in black pointy witches hats with faces painted green, according to an article published by Broadway World on Oct. 29. “Wicked,” the smash hit Broadway musical that debuted in 2003 and has since launched a national tour in major cities throughout the US and the UK - including London’s West End -has had a great influence on the theatre world and continues to attract audiences of all ages with its funny and moving plot that describes life in Oz long before Dorothy and Toto drop in.
The “Wicked Day” event, which is free to the public and geared around Halloween, featured cast appearances, official “Wicked” props and costumes on display, face painting, costume contests and games and quizzes about the musical. Cast member Oliver Tompsett from the London production of “Wicked” made an appearance and performed a reading in the outdoor square where many green-faced fans listened eagerly.
