‘Wicked Day’ hosted by smash hit muscial cast and Broadway Star Bette Middler

New York’s “Wicked Day,” which took place Sunday, Oct. 28, was held in celebration of the friendship garden created by genenous sponsorship from the smash hit musical Wicked and the New York Restoration Project (NYRP)- a non-profit organization dedicated to generating more public open space and parks in underpriviledged neighborhoods in the city. NYRP is led by TV, film and Broadway star Bette Middler, who was present at Sunday’s celebration, according to an article published Monday, Oct. 29 on Broadway World official Web site.

The free block party, which featured games, giveaways and a children’s costume contest, was held in the friendship garden - a public green space that displays elements that were inspired by “Wicked,” including a yellow brick road and sculptures of several characters. It also features flexible space for neighborhood use and for the adjacent community school.
