Stephen Schwartz honored Friday in Broadway Cabaret Festival

Composer and lyricist Stephen Schwartz was honored in a musical tribute Friday, Oct. 19 during the opening of the third annual Broadway Cabaret Festival at the Town Hall, which featured performances from a myriad of actors and actresses, according to an article posted Saturday, Oct. 20 at the Broadway World official Web site.

The show, titled “A Tribute to Stephen Schwartz,” was in honor of the four-time Grammy Award and three-time Academy Award winning  composer who is responsible for creating some of the most critically acclaimed musicals, including “Pippin,” “Godspell,” “The Magic Show” and “The Baker’s Wife,” and most recently “Wicked.”

The Broadway Cabaret Festival stretched through Sunday, Oct. 21, and featured “An Evening With Betty Buckley” and culminated with “Broadway Originals,” a show featuring more than 20 professional stars recreating songs that were used in original productions.
