Broadway hit makes it back to East Coast

“Wicked” Soundtrack Still Number One

No matter how the other shows that come and go upon Broadway’s main stages gain standing in the Billboard’s Cast Albums chart, “Wicked” always seems to come out on top. That’s right, this smash-hit musical by Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman is back at the top of the Billboard Cast Album Chart after having been displaced by “Legally Blonde: The Musical” last week. It is truly incredible that this musical not only continues to wow audiences onstage, but also continues to woww them when they’ve returned home, purchasing thes oundtrack to this hit show so that they can listen to the hit songs over and over again and re-live the show night after night for themselves.

This is a strong showcase of just how pouplar this musicla is with audiences. Seemingly this show should have bowed down to the newer shows coming to the forefront of Broadway musical theater by now. Seemingly this show should have stepped into the sidelines to still play to excitable audiences but perhaps to no longer be selling out touring runs and residential shows in various state in the US and countryes outside of America. Ana Gasteyer To Return to Stage!

Ana Gasteyer, that alum from a little show known as “Saturday Night Live” is returning to the stage to play the role of the infatuated Fosca in the Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine musical “Passion.” We say that Gasteyer is returning to Braodway because she did, indeed, take to teh stage alst year to play Elphaba in the Stephen Schwartz-Winnie Holzman smash-hit musical “Wicked.” Perhaps you’ve heard of it? Telling the tale fo the Land of Oz before little Dorothy and her dog Tot ever arrigved? Telling the tale of who the TIn Man, the COwardly LIon and the Scarecrow were before they were ever discoverd by little miss Dorothy? How Glinda The Good Witch and the Wicked Witch of the West, whose name of Elphaba, met, became friends, and eventually were pitted against each other?

Without a doubt, “Wicked” was a great stand for Gasteyer herself to make, to break herself away from her SNL personalities and to put herself back in people’s minds as a theatrical actress who can certainly sing, a factor of her acting abilities which had been lost during her SNL appearance days as he audience base changed considerably. Yes indeed, if you loved Gasteyer playing Elphaba in “Wicked” then you will certainly want to see her in “Passion” and maybe even catch “Wicked” one more time for old times’ sake. Check Out The Scenes Behind The Emerald Curtain!

Sean McCourt is an acting veteran having shown his acting chops in such shows as “Titanic,” “Ain’t Nothin’ But the Blues,” “Bay Boy,” A Man of No Importance, “The Castle” and “Woody Guthrie’s American Song.” Recently, however, McCourt joined the cast of the Broadway super-success “Wicked” adn wtih that casting, he also gained an entrepreneurial bug that is thrliling “Wicked” fans to no end, as well as McCourt himself, to have been able to be so successful and help promote his show at the same time!

McCourt created a special Saturday morning event known as “Behind The Emerald Curtain” wherein the actors who have appeared in casts of “Wicked” present a behind-the-scenes tour of the musical.
