Wicked Winged Monkeys, Attack!

If you are interested in getting Wicked tickets, you are probably anxious to know if there will be any winged monkeys in the play. Winged monkeys seem like they should make up at least a few of the characters and form some of the plot line, being that the Wicked Witch of the West is so closely aligned with the creatures in The Wizard of Oz movie and books. Apparently, the monkeys are controlled by a golden hat, which was in the possession of several characters in the books, but most notably used for purposes of terror and the carrying out of nefarious plans by the Wicked Witch of the West.

Wait a minute! Master in a yellow hat? Mischievous monkeys up to no good? I would be curious to find out where I had seen this all before, bye George!

So if you would like to see some real life flying monkeys, you will have to go to StubHub.com to get your tickets to a Wicked show near you. Until the night of the show, you can study up on the back story of the monkeys by reading the Oz novels or Gregory Maguire’s revisionist novels about the Wicked Witch of the West.
