Wicked Broadway Castmember

Sebastian Arcelus, who toured with the cast of Wicked, is now performing in the musical on Broadway. Taking on the role of the live interest of Elphaba, Fiyero, Arcelus insists that one of the most embarrassing parts of the show for him is wearing the white pants that his character wears, every night.  Not too shabby considering the fun-loving shenanigans that usually brings up pranks and hijinks among cast members in as popular and long-running shows as Wicked as become.

When asked about the difference in taking on the same character for a tour versus for a permanent theater on the Great White Way, Arcelus insists that his approach to the character is the same as it was when he was touring. One difference he’ll admit, however, is that the audiences change because the shows popularity. When on tour, audiences feel that you have brought the show to them specifically which is exciting and makes them gleeful from the get-go. When based in New York, Arcelus muses, “people are also checking out other shows while they are in town, so they are like, ‘Alright, show us what you’ve got’ which keeps you fresh and on your game.”
